When to use it
看来 is common in speech and often comes with 要……了 or 得: 看来要下雨了. 可见 sounds certain, like “this proves”, and is more common in writing.
Watch out
可见 must follow the facts that prove it, so you cannot open a conversation with it. ✓ 他每天都帮陈阿姨拿东西，可见他很关心邻居。 For a guess, use 看来, not 可见.
