Structure
数词 + 棵/根/卷/批/打/袋 + 名词 · 一 + 碗/桌子/屋子 + 名词 · 动词 + 数词 + 针/刀

What it means

More measure words: 棵 for trees and plants, 根 long thin things, 卷 rolls, 批 a batch of people or goods, 打 a dozen, 袋 bags. Containers and places can also be borrowed as measure words.

How it is built

Number + measure word + noun: 两棵大松树, 几根香蕉, 两卷纸, 一袋米. Borrowed: 一碗饭; with 一 it means “a whole … full”: 一桌子菜 (a table covered with dishes), 一屋子人.

When to use it

批 is for a group that arrives together: 公园里来了一批新的动物. A few tools count actions: 打一针 (give an injection). 一打 is rarer than English “a dozen”: markets usually sell eggs by the 斤.

Watch out

Match the measure word to the shape: ✗ 一根树 ✓ 一棵树; ✗ 一棵筷子 ✓ 一根筷子. 一屋子人 means a room full of people, not “one room”.
