The service
Learn Chinese with Bao ("the course") is an online Chinese course. Part of it is free; Bao Pro, a paid subscription, unlocks the rest. By creating an account or using the course you agree to these terms.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. Keep your password private; you are responsible for what happens in your account. One account is for one person.
Bao Pro subscriptions
- Bao Pro is billed in advance, monthly or yearly, at the price shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period at the same price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the course (我 → Bao Pro → Manage); Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Founding offer: the first 100 people to start a yearly plan pay US$49.99 for their first year. It then renews at the standard yearly price (US$69.99) unless cancelled. The paywall shows how many places are left.
- We will tell you by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect for your subscription.
- Refunds: [STATE YOUR REFUND POLICY, e.g. "if you write to us within 14 days of a payment and have not used Pro since, we refund it in full"]. This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law.
Invite a friend
- Your invite link is in 我 → Invite a friend. When someone creates a new account through your link and their first payment for Bao Pro goes through, you get 3 months of Bao Pro free. There is no limit on the number of friends.
- If you subscribe, your next payment moves 3 months later. If you do not, Pro is on for 3 months (added to any free time you already have); if you subscribe later, your first payment waits until that free time ends.
- Only new accounts count, each person counts once, and inviting yourself (for example with a second email address) does not count. Free months have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred. If a friend's payment is refunded or invites are abused, we may remove the free time it gave.
- We may change or end the offer at any time; free time already given stays.
Using the content
The lessons, texts, audio and pictures are for your own personal learning. You may not copy, resell or redistribute them, or use automated tools to download them in bulk.
Availability
We work to keep the course available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may change or improve the course over time.
Ending your account
You can stop using the course and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we ever close the course, we will refund the unused part of any paid period.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, the course is provided "as is" and our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
