着眼于…
with an eye to; to focus on; to look to
Structure
(主语) 着眼于 长远/未来/目标 (,…)
What it means
With an eye to; to focus on. Names the aim or horizon that a policy or plan is built around (着眼于长远, 着眼于未来).
How it is built
(Subject)+ 着眼于 + noun or verb phrase: 学校这次改革着眼于培养学生的动手能力 (The school’s reform is aimed at building students’ practical skills).
When to use it
Formal, typical of policy documents and commentary. 于 is often dropped in set pairs: 立足当前,着眼长远 (start from the present, keep the long term in view). 从…着眼 means “from the angle of”.
Watch out
着 is zhuó here, as in 着重 and 着手, not zháo or zhe. Do not confuse it with 取决于 (to depend on), which takes the deciding factor as its object.
