再…不过了
couldn’t be more …; as … as can be
Structure
再 形容词 不过了
What it means
“Couldn’t be more…, as… as can be”: nothing could be more so. A strong, warm way to praise, agree or reassure.
How it is built
再 + plain adjective + 不过了, usually at the end of the sentence: 你能来帮忙,那就再好不过了 (if you can help, nothing could be better). Before a noun: 这是再合适不过的人选.
When to use it
At home in speech and writing alike. Typical adjectives: 好, 合适, 简单, 方便, 清楚, 正常. 最好不过了 is a spoken variant; 没有比这更合适的了 says the same at more length.
Watch out
✗ 再很合适不过了: no 很 or 非常 inside. Don’t confuse it with 再也不 (never again): 再好不过了 praises, 我再也不去了 refuses.
