Structure

What it means
于是 means “so, and then”: what someone did next because of A. 结果 means “in the end, as it turned out”: how things ended up, often not as hoped.
How it is built
A，于是 B: 银行的利息越来越低，于是很多人开始买黄金 (interest kept falling, so lots of people started buying gold). A，结果 B: 他想一个月就赚一万块，结果钱都被骗走了.
When to use it
Both are for telling what happened. 所以 is the general word for cause and result, and can also bring in advice or plans; 于是 and 结果 only report what really happened.
Watch out
B must have really happened, so 于是 can’t bring in a plan or a request: ✗ 下雨了，于是我们别去了。 ✓ 下雨了，我们别去了。

银行的利息越来越低，于是很多人开始买黄金。
Bank interest kept falling, so lots of people started buying gold.
他听说这家店的玉很好，于是周末去看了看。
He heard this shop’s jade was good, so he went to have a look at the weekend.
他想一个月就赚一万块，结果钱都被骗走了。
He wanted to make 10,000 yuan in a month, and ended up being cheated out of all his money.
我以为黄金会降价，结果黄金越来越贵了。
I thought gold would get cheaper, but as it turned out it just kept getting dearer.
