的确

really, indeed: confirms that something is true

Structure
主语 + 的确 + 形容词/动词 · 的确,……

What it means

“Really, indeed”: confirms that something is true, often agreeing with what someone has just said.

How it is built

Subject + 的确 + adjective/verb: 黄金的价格的确比去年高了不少 (the price of gold really is a lot higher than last year). Or 的确,……: 的确,钱放在银行里很安全,可是利息太低了.

When to use it

Used to agree, or to admit a point before 可是 (“true, but…”). It means the same as 确实, and the two swap freely before a verb or adjective.

Watch out

Say dí què: this 的 is not the everyday de. Put it before the verb or adjective, not at the end: ✗ 这家店的玉是真的的确。 ✓ 这家店的玉的确是真的。
