A、B 分列第…
to take … places respectively (in a ranking or result)
Structure
名词A 、 名词B 分列 (榜单) 第 名次1 、 第 名次2 (名/位)
What it means
Several subjects take places in a ranking respectively, in the order named: the first name takes the first place listed.
How it is built
A、B + 分列 + 第X、第Y (名/位): 上海队和广州队分列第二、第三名 (Shanghai came second and Guangzhou third). A range works too: 分列前两位.
When to use it
News, election results and rankings, usually after the winner: 冠军是北京队,A、B分列…. In speech say B是第二,C是第三. 并列第二 means “tied for second”.
Watch out
Keep names and places in the same order and number: ✗ 上海队和广州队分列第二名 ✓ 分列第二、第三名. 被列为 (listed as) gives one subject a status, not a rank.
