A,(但)这并不妨碍 B
but that does not stop …; … all the same
Structure
让步的事实(缺点、批评、困难) , (但/不过) 这并不妨碍 主语 + 动词(照样发生的结果)
What it means
Grants a drawback, then insists something happens all the same: “but that does not stop …”. 妨碍 is “to hinder”; 并 stresses the negative.
How it is built
Conceded fact,(但/不过) 这并不妨碍 + verb phrase or clause: 剧情一般,但这并不妨碍它走红 (the plot is ordinary, but that did not stop it taking off). The fact can be the subject: 性格内向并不妨碍她…
When to use it
Reviews, profiles and commentary. Unlike 虽然…但是…, which just links two facts, it says the first might have stood in the way and did not. In speech: 可他还是… or 照样 (lesson 8-20).
Watch out
The first fact must be a possible obstacle: ✗ 她唱功很好,这并不妨碍她走红 ✓ 正因为唱功好,她才走红. Write 妨 with 女, not 防; 不妨 (lesson 5-7) means “might as well”.
Examples
