What it means
To express an attitude towards something: the standard frame of official statements and formal thanks.
How it is built
Subject + 对 + matter + 表示 + attitude noun: 中方对此表示强烈不满 (China expresses strong dissatisfaction at this).
When to use it
The attitude noun sets the temperature: 欢迎, 赞赏, 关注, 关切, 遗憾, 不满, 抗议. Formal; daily talk just says 我很感谢你. Modifiers go before the noun: 表示衷心的感谢.
Watch out
The 对 phrase comes before 表示: ✗ 中方表示不满对此 ✓ 中方对此表示不满. In this frame 表示 takes an attitude word, often with a modifier: 表示强烈抗议.

China expresses strong dissatisfaction at this.
我们对您的帮助表示衷心的感谢。
