Structure
陈述句 + 吧 ？
What it means
Put 吧 on a statement when you are fairly sure and just want the other person to confirm: “I suppose …”, “…, right?”
How it is built
Statement + 吧？: 你是新同学吧？ (You’re the new student, right?)
When to use it
With 吗 it is a real question, because you don’t know: 你是大卫吗？ With 吧 you are guessing and want a yes: 你是大卫吧？ “You’re David, right?”
Watch out
Don’t mix it up with the 吧 of suggestions (h1-16): 我们走吧 “let’s go” is not a question and ends with 。.
