Usage and origin
鼎, the heavy bronze tripod, stands for great strength. 鼎力 is a courteous word for other people’s help, used when asking a favour or giving thanks: 感谢贵方的鼎力相助, 还望鼎力相助. Careful writers avoid it for their own help, which sounds like self-praise; say 全力支持 instead.
