What it means
As long as, as high as, as many as: stresses that a figure is impressively large.
How it is built
Noun + 长达／高达／多达 + number: 参加比赛的人数多达五万 (As many as fifty thousand people took part). 长达 + time or length; 高达 + height, price or percentage; 多达 + a count.
When to use it
Neutral to formal; common in news. Only for big figures. For small ones use 仅 (only) or 不足 (less than): 仅三人, 不足一百.
Watch out
Not for small numbers: ✗ 会议长达十分钟 ✓ 会议仅十分钟. Match the word to the measure: ✗ 价格长达一万元 ✓ 价格高达一万元.
