Structure
原因A ， 再加上 原因B ， （所以）结果
What it means
'On top of that; add to that': adds one more reason to those already given, then the result follows.
How it is built
Reason A，再加上 reason B，(所以) result: 今天下雨，再加上是周一，路上堵得厉害 (it's raining, and on top of that it's Monday, so the roads are jammed).
When to use it
Common in speech and writing. 本来（就）… often sets up reason A; the result often has 所以, 就 or 更. Plain 加上 means the same; 加之 is the written form.
Watch out
It stacks causes for a result, not just any extra fact: for 'also' use 也 or 而且. ✗我喜欢唱歌，再加上跳舞。 ✓我喜欢唱歌，也喜欢跳舞。

今天下雨，再加上是周一，路上堵得厉害。
It’s raining, and on top of that it’s Monday, so the roads are jammed.
他本来就累，再加上没吃早饭，开会时差点儿睡着了。
He was tired to begin with and had skipped breakfast, so he nearly dozed off in the meeting.
