逾 数量（＋ 名词）
What it means
More than, over: the classical verb “to go beyond”, giving a round figure as a lower limit.
How it is built
逾 + number (+ measure word or noun): 撤离同胞逾三万五千人 (over 35,000 compatriots were evacuated). Also 逾万人, 逾三成, 逾千年.
When to use it
Headlines, news reports and official summaries. In speech say 超过三万人, or put 多 after the number: 三万多人. Related words: 逾期 (overdue), 年逾七十 (over seventy).
Watch out
逾 already means “more than”, so do not add 多 or 以上: ✗ 逾三万多人 ✗ 逾三万人以上 ✓ 逾三万人.
Examples
前后不过十来天，撤离同胞逾三万五千人。
In only ten days or so more than 35,000 compatriots were evacuated.
这座古桥已有逾千年的历史。
This old bridge is more than a thousand years old.
今年报名参加考试的人数逾百万。
More than a million people have registered for the exam this year.
