一点儿也不 · 一……也不
not at all · not even one
Structure
一点儿也 + 不 + 形容词 · 一 + 量词 (+ 名词) + 也 + 不/没 + 动词
What it means
Two ways to make a strong “not”: 一点儿也不 + adjective is “not at all”; 一 + measure word + 也不/也没 is “not even one”.
How it is built
一点儿也 + 不 + adjective: 我一点儿也不饿 (I’m not hungry at all). 一 + measure word (+ noun) + 也 + 不/没 + verb: 我一杯咖啡也没喝 (I didn’t have a single cup of coffee).
When to use it
Use them to stress a negative. Use 没 for what didn’t happen (我一个也没吃) and 不 for now or habits. 都 can replace 也: 一点儿都不贵.
Watch out
The whole phrase goes before the verb or adjective, not at the end like English. ✗ 我不饿一点儿。 ✓ 我一点儿也不饿。
Examples
我一点儿也不饿。
I’m not hungry at all.
这家店的菜一点儿也不贵。

今天我一杯咖啡也没喝。
I haven’t had a single cup of coffee today.
