Structure
整十数 + 多 + 量词 (+ 名词) · 数词 + 量词 + 多
What it means
多 after a number means “and a bit more”: 三十多块 is thirty-something kuai, 六点多 is past six. Where 多 goes depends on the number.
How it is built
Round number (十, 二十, 一百五十) + 多 + measure word: 三十多块. Number ending in 1–9 + measure word + 多: 三块多 (3-point-something kuai). Example: 现在七点多了 (It’s past seven now).
When to use it
Use it for rough prices, times and counts. The second order only works with units you can split, like 块, 点, 小时. This is not the 多 of 多大 or 多高 (h1-5), which asks “how …?”.
Watch out
✗ 三多块 ✓ 三十多块 or 三块多. ✗ 三个多人 ✓ 三十多个人: a person can’t be split, so 多 can’t come after 个 here.
