What it means
'Lasting (a set length)': gives the length of a planned stretch whose start and end are fixed in advance, such as a ban, a visit, talks, training or a project. 为 is wéi.
How it is built
为期 + length + 的 + noun (为期两天的会谈), or event，为期 + length: 展览将于下月开幕，为期三个月 (The exhibition opens next month and will run for three months).
When to use it
News and official notices; in speech say 一共十年 or 要搞十年. 期间 (during) points to a time inside the period (禁渔期间), while 为期十年 measures the whole of it.
Watch out
It takes a length, never a date: ✗为期2030年底 ✓直至2030年底. For an end point use 到 or 直至.

The two delegations held two days of talks.
