to be hit by, squeezed by, favoured by…: undergoing something (business and news register)
Structure
主语 受(到) (…的)冲击/挤压/青睐/追捧
What it means
Says the subject undergoes something: it is hit, squeezed, favoured or eagerly sought after. Business and news writing pairs 受(到) with a set of abstract nouns.
How it is built
Subject + 受(到)+ (…的) + noun (冲击/挤压/青睐/追捧/关注/质疑): 小商店普遍受到冲击 (Small shops have been hit across the board). Written intensifiers: 深受喜爱, 备受关注, 饱受批评, 广受好评.
When to use it
受到 suits good and bad alike; 遭到 (3-11) is only for bad things (遭到批评). For help or support that you gain, 得到 is usual. 很受 also works: 很受年轻人青睐.
Watch out
受 is passive already, so never add 被: ✗被受到冲击。 ✓受到冲击。 And do not use 遭到 for something good: ✗遭到欢迎 ✓受到欢迎.
