Structure
A 离 B + 很近／很远 · A 离 B + 有 + distance
What it means
离 says how near or far one place is from another: 我家离公司不太远 (my place isn’t very far from the office).
How it is built
A + 离 + B + 很近／很远, or A + 离 + B + 有 + a distance: 地铁站离这儿很近 (the metro station is very close to here).
When to use it
First the place you are talking about, then 离 + the other place, then 近, 远 or 有 + distance. To ask: 你家离学校远吗？
Watch out
✗ 我家很近离公司。 ✗ 我家从公司很远。 ✓ 我家离公司很远。 离 + place comes before 近／远, and 从 is not used here.
Examples
我家离公司不太远。
My place isn’t very far from the office.
地铁站离这儿很近。
The metro station is very close to here.
你家离学校远吗？
Is your home far from school?
大卫家离公司有八站。
David’s place is eight stops from the office.
