…就是了

just do it, that’s all; nothing more to it

Structure
(主语)动词短语 就是了 / (只是)情况 就是了

What it means

Spoken. At the end of a sentence it shrinks the matter down: “just do X, no need for more”; after a statement it means “only…, that’s all”.

How it is built

(Subject) + verb phrase + 就是了: 你放心去就是了 (just go, don’t worry). Statement + 就是了: 只是有点累就是了 (I’m just a bit tired, that’s all).

When to use it

With 你 it reassures or brushes aside; with 我 it promises, sometimes a little impatiently: 好,我不说就是了. The “that’s all” sense is like 罢了 or 而已 (不过…罢了, lesson 3-11).

Watch out

Keep the final 了: 就是了 is the fixed ending. Don’t confuse it with 就是 at the start of a clause, which means “it’s just that…”.

Examples

这部剧也没什么特别的,演员长得好看就是了。
There’s nothing special about this series; the actors are good-looking, that’s all.
