A 不亚于 B

A is no less than B; A is a match for B

Structure
A 不亚于 B

What it means

亚 means “second to”, so A 不亚于 B says A is not second to B: A reaches the level of B, the yardstick.

How it is built

A + 不亚于 + B (the famous or stronger side): 这家小饭馆的菜不亚于大酒店 (this little restaurant’s food is a match for a big hotel’s). Strengthen with 丝毫 or 一点儿也: 丝毫不亚于.

When to use it

Written and a little formal. B is usually the famous or stronger benchmark. It works for bad things too: 这次台风的损失不亚于十年前那一次.

Watch out

✗ 不亚于比大酒店。 ✓ 不亚于大酒店。 No 比. And don’t confuse it with 不如 (“not as good as”), which says the opposite.
