What it means
Presents a figure as strikingly large: a cost, price, rate, temperature or height reaches as much as X. Read it gāo dá.
How it is built
(Subject) + 高达 + number + unit: 今年夏天最高气温高达42度 (this summer the temperature reached as high as 42 degrees).
When to use it
News and reports. Partners: 多达 for counts of people or things (多达三万人), 长达 for length or time (长达十年), 重达 for weight. For a strikingly small figure use 仅 or 低至.
Watch out
It needs a real number: ✗ 高达很多. It already says the figure is large, so no 才 or 只: ✗ 才高达五千元 ✓ 高达五千元.

算上配套工程，总投资据报道高达4500亿元。
Including the linked works, the total investment is reported to have reached as much as 450 billion yuan.
今年夏天最高气温高达42度，工地只好改在夜里施工。
This summer the temperature reached as high as 42 degrees, so the building site had to switch to night work.
这类工作的离职率高达三成，公司不得不经常招人。
Staff turnover in this kind of job runs as high as thirty per cent, so the company is forever hiring.
