对 人 来说／而言 ， 判断
What it means
“For …”, “as far as … is concerned”: marks whose situation a judgement applies to.
How it is built
对 + person + 来说／而言，judgement: 对我来说，发音比语法难 (For me, pronunciation is harder than grammar).
When to use it
来说 is common in speech and writing; 而言 is more formal. 在…看来 is different: it reports that person’s opinion, while 对…来说 says how things are for them.
Watch out
Don’t drop 来说: ✗ 对我，发音很难。 ✓ 对我来说，发音很难。 Plain 对 + person is “towards”: 他对我很好 means “he is kind to me”.

对大多数学生来说，高考几乎决定了他们的未来。
For most students the gaokao virtually decides their future.
对我来说，发音比语法难。
For me, pronunciation is harder than grammar.
