超出…的部分
the part over (a threshold)
Structure
What it means
The part over a threshold: only the amount above the line is treated differently, and what lies below keeps the old rate.
How it is built
(Every kilo of baggage over 20 kilos is charged at 50 yuan).
When to use it
Tax tables, price lists and tariffs. 超过 is the general word and the one tax law uses (超过 A 至 B 的部分 for a band); 超出 stresses going beyond a set limit (超出预算).
Watch out
Without 的部分 the whole amount seems covered, the classic “threshold” misunderstanding: ✗ 停车超过两小时每小时收5元 ✓ 超过两小时的部分每小时收5元.
Examples
From the part of monthly income above 5,000 yuan you take away the five insurances and one fund and the special deductions, and only what is left is taxed.
