What it means
别的 means “other” or “else”: before a noun (别的菜, other dishes) or alone for “something else”.
How it is built
别的 + noun: 有别的菜吗？ (Have you got any other dishes?). Alone: 还要别的吗？ (Anything else?).
When to use it
还要别的吗？ is what sellers and waiters ask after every order. Add something with 还要…, or finish with 没有了，谢谢 (no, that’s all, thanks).
Watch out
别的 goes before the noun: ✗ 同学别的 ✓ 别的同学 (the other classmates).

还要别的吗？——没有了，谢谢。
Anything else? — No, that’s all, thanks.
你还想吃别的吗？
Would you like anything else to eat?
我不吃肉。有别的菜吗？
I don’t eat meat. Have you got any other dishes?
