Example
这对情侣一个在国内,一个在国外,一年见不了几次面,却始终心心相印。
One of the couple lives in China and the other abroad, and they meet only a few times a year, yet their hearts remain as one.
Tone: positive (praise).
Usage and origin
From Chan (Zen) Buddhism, where truth passes “from heart to heart” (以心印心) like a seal pressed on paper. Now said mostly of lovers and couples, sometimes of very close friends; warmer and more literary than 默契 (lesson 5-10), the everyday word for any two people who understand each other without words, from teammates to old couples.
