Example
婚姻最要紧的是两情相悦,房子、车子都是其次。
What matters most in a marriage is that two people love each other; the flat and the car come second.
Tone: positive (praise).
Usage and origin
Literary but common in talk about love: both sides are willing, the opposite of 一厢情愿 (wishful, one-sided). It is often set against a match arranged by others, the old 父母之命,媒妁之言 (by the parents’ order and the matchmaker’s word).
