What it means
“This way, as a result”: sums up the action or change just described and introduces what follows from it, good or bad.
How it is built
Action/change，这样一来，+ result (often with 就, 便 or 也): 他把车卖了，这样一来，每天上班得多花半个小时 (he sold his car, so his commute takes an extra half hour).
When to use it
这么一来 is more spoken, 如此一来 more written. It needs a concrete action or change before it.
Watch out
Not for drawing a conclusion from an argument: there use 因此 or 所以. ✓ 公司推迟了上班时间，这样一来，大家都不用挤早高峰了。
Examples
汉武帝规定钱只能由中央铸造，这样一来，中央的钱多了，权力也大了。
Emperor Wu ruled that only the central government could cast coins; as a result it had more money and more power.
公司把上班时间推迟了一个小时，这样一来，大家都不用挤早高峰了。
The company pushed the start of the day back an hour, so now nobody has to fight the morning rush.
他把车卖了，这样一来，每天上班得多花半个小时。
He sold his car, which means his commute now takes an extra half hour.
