A 有 A 的 B

A has its own B; each has its own … (too)

Structure
A (也)有 A 的 名词(好处/难处/麻烦/道理…)

What it means

A has its own B: a thing or person has merits, troubles or reasons of its own. It grants something its due, good side or bad.

How it is built

A + 有 + the same A + 的 + noun (好处, 难处, 麻烦, 道理, 乐趣, 规矩): 你别怪他,他有他的难处 (don’t blame him; he has his own difficulties). A can be a noun, a verb phrase or a person.

When to use it

Two clauses side by side treat both sides fairly: 老人有老人的想法,年轻人有年轻人的打算. One clause with 也 concedes a downside, or upside, too: 看电视也有看电视的麻烦. Conversation and personal essays.

Watch out

The echo must be exact: ✗看电视有看的麻烦 ✓看电视有看电视的麻烦. Don’t confuse it with A是A,B是B, which keeps two things apart instead of giving each its due.
