What it means

At someone’s invitation: 应 (yìng) means “to respond to”, so 应邀 is “in response to an invitation”.

How it is built

Subject + 应邀 + verb (来华, 访问, 出席, 讲学), or open with 应 + host + (的) 邀请: 应中方邀请,总统将访问中国 (at China’s invitation, the president will visit China).

When to use it
