Structure
某人 因 罪名／违法行为 被 判处／罚款／开除 ＋ 处罚 ／ 法院 以 罪名 判处 某人 ＋ 刑罚
What it means
The fixed order of reports on trials and penalties: who, 因 + the offence, 被 + the penalty. Someone is sentenced, fined or punished for something.
How it is built
Person + 因 + offence + 被 + 判处／罚款／开除 + penalty: 他因酒后开车被罚款两千元 (he was fined 2,000 yuan for drink-driving). Court as subject: 法院以诈骗罪判处他有期徒刑五年.
When to use it
因 is the written 因为 and takes a noun or short verb phrase; 罪 names a crime, 等罪 sums up several. 判处 = court sentence, 罚款 = fine, 开除 = expulsion. In speech: 因为…被判了…年.
Watch out
Don't drop 被: ✗ 他因诈骗罪判处五年 (as if he passed the sentence) ✓ 他因诈骗罪被判处有期徒刑五年. Offence before penalty. With the court as subject, 以 replaces 因 and 被 goes.

这家平台因违规发放贷款，被监管部门罚款五百万元。
The platform was fined five million yuan by the regulator for lending in breach of the rules.
他因酒后开车被罚款两千元，驾驶证也被扣了。
He was fined two thousand yuan for drink-driving, and his licence was suspended too.
