也
also, too: after the subject, before the verb
Structure
主语 + 也 + 动词/形容词
What it means
也 means “also, too”. It always goes after the subject and before the verb.
How it is built
Subject + 也 + verb or adjective: 我也是学生 (I'm a student too). Before 很 or 不: 王明也很忙, 我也不是老师 (I'm not a teacher either).
When to use it
Use it when a second person or thing shares the same fact: 大卫很忙,王明也很忙。 也不 means “not … either”. “Me too” is 我也是.
Watch out
Never put it at the end like English “too” or before the subject: ✗ 我是学生也 ✗ 也我是学生 ✓ 我也是学生.
Examples
我也是学生。
I’m a student too.
大卫很忙,王明也很忙。
David is busy, and Wang Ming is busy too.
我也不是老师。
