What it means
Links two changes: as the first one happens, the second follows. “As the economy grows, …”, “along with …”.
How it is built
随着 + noun phrase (often X 的发展／变化／增长)，subject + change: 随着年龄的增长，他越来越安静了 (As he got older, he became quieter and quieter). A short change also works: 随着天气变冷.
When to use it
The 随着 part comes first, usually before the subject. It sounds a little formal and is very common in articles. The second half must describe a change, so it usually has 越来越 (h2-6), 不断, 了 or 起来.
Watch out
Don’t use 随着 for a single moment (“when I arrived”): that is ……的时候 (h2-5). ✗ 随着我到，他已经走了。 ✓ 我到的时候，他已经走了。
Examples
随着经济的发展，城市的规模越来越大。
As the economy grows, the cities get bigger and bigger.
随着手机支付的普及，用现金的人越来越少了。
As mobile payment has spread, fewer and fewer people use cash.
随着年龄的增长，他越来越安静了。
As he got older, he became quieter and quieter.
