Structure
主语 尚未 动词
What it means
Not yet: the written form of 还没有. Something expected has not happened by now.
How it is built
Subject + 尚未 + verb: 事故的原因尚未查明 (The cause of the accident has not yet been established). Usually with two-syllable verbs: 解决, 确定, 完成.
When to use it
Written: news, reports, notices. 尚 is 还 and 未 is 没. Same family: 尚可 (still acceptable), 尚且 (even), 未必 (not necessarily), 未曾 (never).
Watch out
No 了 after the verb, just as with 没: ✗ 尚未解决了 ✓ 尚未解决. Don't use it in chat: ✗ 我尚未吃饭呢 ✓ 我还没吃饭呢.
Examples
农村面临的深层问题尚未解决。
The deeper problems facing the countryside have not yet been solved.
事故的原因尚未查明。
The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
