请勿 / 切勿 + 动词

please do not; on no account (in notices and warnings)

Structure
请勿 / 切勿 动词(短语)

What it means

勿 is the classical 不要 or 别. 请勿 is the polite “please do not” of signs; 切勿 is the stronger “on no account”, for warnings where something real is at stake.

How it is built

请勿/切勿 + verb (phrase): 文物容易损坏,请勿触摸 (These relics are fragile. Please do not touch). Warnings: 切勿轻信, 切勿转账.

When to use it

Notices, rules, instructions and public warnings (请勿吸烟, 请勿拍照). To a friend say 别 or 千万别. Compare 切忌 (lesson 8-2), “be sure to avoid”, which reads more like advice than a ban.

Watch out

勿 is already negative, so never add another: ✗ 请勿不要吸烟 ✓ 请勿吸烟. Keep 请勿 for polite signs and 切勿 for serious warnings.
