What it means
And also, and moreover: the written form of 而且 or 并且, adding a second quality or condition that also holds.
How it is built
A + 且 + B (adjectives, verb phrases or clauses): 这种新材料重量轻且耐高温 (The new material is light and also withstands high temperatures).
When to use it
Common in rules, contracts and news (须…且…: 须年满十八周岁，且无犯罪记录), and in the pair 既…且… (既快且好). In speech say 而且 or 还.
Watch out
It never links nouns: ✗我且你 ✓我和你. Use it between qualities, actions or conditions, not between things.
Examples
这种新材料重量轻且耐高温。
The new material is light and also withstands high temperatures.
申请人须年满十八周岁，且无犯罪记录。
Applicants must be at least eighteen and have no criminal record.
这家饭馆的菜分量足，且价格公道。
The portions at this restaurant are generous, and the prices are fair too.
