每隔…
every …; at intervals of …
Structure
每隔 一段时间/距离 (就) 动词
What it means
'Every …; at intervals of …': says how often something happens or how far apart things are.
How it is built
每隔 + period or distance + (就) + verb: 这条路上每隔一百米就有一个垃圾桶 (there is a bin every hundred metres along this road).
When to use it
Neutral, in speech and writing; 就 often follows. With minutes, hours or metres people simply mean 'every'. 每 + number (每两天) is the plainer alternative.
Watch out
隔 counts the gap, so with whole days it can be one off: 每隔一天 means every other day, the same as 每两天, not 'every day'.
Examples
每隔十五天左右,就有一个新的节气。
A new solar term comes round about every fifteen days.
这条路上每隔一百米就有一个垃圾桶。
There is a bin every hundred metres along this road.
