看/瞧你那(X)样
look at you! (teasing or scolding)
Structure
瞧/看 你 那 (形容词) 样(儿) !
What it means
Look at you!: an exclamation aimed at someone’s look or behaviour, teasing between intimates, scolding otherwise.
How it is built
瞧/看 + 你 + 那 + (adjective) + 样(儿)!: 瞧你那得意样儿 (Look at you, so pleased with yourself!). Common X: 得意, 傻, 没出息.
When to use it
Between family and close friends it teases (瞧你那傻样儿); otherwise it scolds and can be very rude. 瞧 is northern and more colloquial than 看; Beijingers add 儿.
Watch out
Never say it to a superior or a stranger. A longer X often takes 的: 看你那没出息的样儿.
