句群:不用关联词(意合)
sentences linked by order and meaning alone, with no connective
Structure
句子一 , 句子二 。 句子三 。(靠语序和意思连接)
What it means
Sentences linked by order and meaning alone: the sequence of events and a shared topic carry the logic, and the reader supplies the missing 因为, 所以 or 但是.
How it is built
Sentence 1,sentence 2。sentence 3。 in natural order: 下了一夜大雨。早上的比赛取消了。 (It rained all night. The morning match was called off.)
When to use it
Narrative and plain prose; Zhu Ziqing’s style (《背影》) lives on it. English usually needs “so” or “but”; Chinese leaves them out when the link is clear.
Watch out
The common mistake runs the other way: translating every English connective and putting 因为…所以… into every sentence, which reads like a translation.
