Structure
数字 + 月 + 数字 + 号 · 星期 + 一……六 · 星期天／星期日
What it means
Dates go from big to small: month first, then day. Months and days of the week are just numbers.
How it is built
Number + 月 + number + 号: 五月八号 (8 May). 星期 + 一 … 六: 星期一 Monday … 星期六 Saturday; Sunday is 星期天 or 星期日. Ask: 今天几月几号？星期几？
When to use it
Months run 一月 January … 十二月 December, and the week starts on Monday. To ask, put 几 (lesson h1-4) where the number goes. In writing, 号 becomes 日 (九月十日, lesson p-8).
Watch out
一月 is January, but 一个月 is “one month”. Sunday is not 星期七: ✗ 星期七 ✓ 星期天 or 星期日.
