干脆

just (go ahead and); might as well

Structure
麻烦或犹豫 , (主语) 干脆 动词

What it means

'Just (go ahead and); might as well': after a problem or some dithering, announces a clean way out.

How it is built

Problem or hesitation,(subject) + 干脆 + verb, often with 吧, 算了 or 不…了: 太远了,干脆不去了 (it's too far, let's just not go).

When to use it

Spoken. As an adjective it means brisk and direct: 说话很干脆, 干脆利落.

Watch out

Don't mix it up with 简直, also 'simply' in English, which only exaggerates: ✗我干脆要疯了。 ✓我简直要疯了。 干脆 needs a problem before it to make sense.
