What it means
Both go straight before a number and stress that it is surprisingly large: as many as, as high as.
How it is built
Subject + 多达／高达 + number, or 多达／高达 + number + 的 + noun: 那几天的气温高达四十度 (For those few days the temperature reached as high as forty degrees).
When to use it
多达 counts things: people, kinds, times (多达三万人). 高达 is a level on a scale: price, temperature, height, percentage (高达百分之九十). Written and news style; in speech say 足足 or 有…那么多. Opposites: 仅, 只有, and 低至 for prices.
Watch out
No 了 after them: ✗多达了三万人 ✓多达三万人. Not with a small number, and keep them apart: ✗气温多达四十度 ✓气温高达四十度.
Examples
2025年武汉马拉松的报名人数多达四十五万。
As many as 450,000 people applied for the 2025 Wuhan Marathon.
这家小吃店的点心多达上百种。
This snack shop has as many as a hundred kinds of pastries.
那几天的气温高达四十度，不少人中暑了。
For those few days the temperature reached as high as forty degrees, and many people got heatstroke.
