from … to …
Structure
从 + 地点／时间 + 到 + 地点／时间
What it means
从 marks where or when something starts, and 到 where or when it ends: “from … to …”.
How it is built
从 + place/time + 到 + place/time + verb: 我们从九点到十二点上课 (we have class from nine to twelve).
When to use it
It works for places (从我家到学院) and times (从星期一到星期五). 从 can also stand alone for a starting point: 他从英国来 (he comes from Britain).
Watch out
✗ 我们上课从九点到十二点。 ✓ 我们从九点到十二点上课。 The whole 从……到…… phrase goes before the verb.
Examples
从我家到学院，走路十分钟。
It’s a ten-minute walk from my home to the college.
我们从九点到十二点上课。
We have class from nine to twelve.
从星期一到星期五，我都上班。
I work from Monday to Friday.
