What it means
Shows something indirectly: the evidence was not gathered to answer the question, but it points the same way. 侧面 is 'the side'.
How it is built
Fact/figure + (也) + 从侧面 + 说明／反映（出）／证明 + conclusion: 外卖订单越来越多，从侧面反映出年轻人生活节奏之快 (rising takeaway orders indirectly reflect how fast young people live).
When to use it
Journalists add a supporting figure after the main claim, often with 也: 数据也从侧面说明了这一点. The opposite is 从正面, directly (从正面回答问题). Verbs: 说明, 反映, 证明, 了解.
Watch out
Not for direct, decisive proof: ✗ 录像从侧面证明他就是小偷 ✓ 录像证明他就是小偷. Keep it for supporting, indirect evidence.
Examples
数据也从侧面说明了这一点：2025年，全国住户存款增加了14.64万亿元。
The figures point the same way: in 2025 household deposits nationwide rose by 14.64 trillion yuan.
外卖订单越来越多，从侧面反映出年轻人生活节奏之快。
The ever-growing number of takeaway orders reflects, indirectly, how fast young people live.
这本书一上市就卖光了，从侧面证明了读者对历史的兴趣。
The book sold out as soon as it came out, which bears out readers’ interest in history.
