how many times
Structure
动词 + ( 过/了 ) + 数词 + 次/遍/回/场 (+ 宾语)
What it means
These count how many times. 次 is the everyday word; 回 means the same in relaxed speech; 遍 is once through from start to end; 场 counts events like a match or a show.
How it is built
Verb (+ 过/了) + number + 次/遍/回/场 (+ object): 我去过三次北京 (I’ve been to Beijing three times). With a place, both orders work: 去过北京三次.
When to use it
遍 is for a book, film or text from start to end: 请再说一遍 “please say that again”. 场 is for a match, a film showing, a show. With 他 or 你 as object, the count goes last: 我见过他两次.
Watch out
Never put the count before the verb. ✗ 我三次去过。 ✓ 我去过三次。 With a person: ✗ 我见过两次他 ✓ 我见过他两次.
