A 不比 B

A is no more … than B (they are about the same; often said to disagree)

Structure
A 不比 B + 形容词

What it means

A is no more … than B: usually the two are about the same. It is often said to disagree with someone who thinks otherwise.

How it is built

A + 不比 + B + adjective: 北京队不比上海队差 (Beijing are no worse than Shanghai).

When to use it

Use it to push back: “Shanghai are strong!” “北京队不比他们差!” It is not A 没有 B + adjective, which means A is less: 我没有他高 (I’m not as tall as him).

Watch out

No 很 or 非常 before the adjective: ✗ 北京队不比他们很差 ✓ 北京队不比他们差. And don’t read 不比 as “less than”; that is 没有.
