What it means
And (also); and then. A formal way to add a second action by the same subject, usually one that follows from or adds to the first.
How it is built
Subject + verb phrase 1，并 + verb phrase 2: 会议讨论了这个方案，并决定下个月开始实施 (the meeting discussed the plan and decided to put it into effect next month). Both phrases share one subject.
When to use it
Written and formal: news, notices, reports and official documents. In speech say 还, 也 or 然后 instead.
Watch out
并 joins verb phrases, not nouns: ✗月嫂并育儿嫂 ✓月嫂和育儿嫂. Don’t confuse it with 并 before a negative (并不, 并没有), meaning “not at all”.
Examples
要求对家政人员进行培训，并为他们建立信用记录。
It required training for domestic workers and a credit record for each of them.
公司对阿姨进行岗前培训，并安排她们上户。
The agency gives its ayi pre-job training and places them with families.
会议讨论了这个方案，并决定下个月开始实施。
The meeting discussed the plan and decided to put it into effect next month.
