被曝/被指/被传
is exposed / accused / rumoured to (not yet settled)
Structure
某人/某机构 被曝/被指/被传 + 所说的事
What it means
Headline passives for claims that are not settled yet: 被曝 'is exposed', 被指 'is accused', 被传 'is rumoured to', with the source left out on purpose.
How it is built
Person or organisation + 被曝/被指/被传 + the claim: 某家餐厅被曝使用过期食材 (a restaurant has been exposed for using expired ingredients).
When to use it
News and online reporting. 被曝 usually comes with some evidence; 被指 is accused by critics or a report; 被传 is only rumoured. Follow-up verbs: 回应, 否认, 证实.
Watch out
Pick by strength of evidence: 被传 for gossip, never for a proven fact. The source is dropped on purpose; to name one, use 被媒体曝光 or 据…报道.
