Hundreds, then tens, then units; an empty place in the middle is read 零
Structure
What it means
For 100–999, say the hundreds, then the tens, then the units. An empty place in the middle is read 零 (zero).
How it is built
When to use it
In speech 一百 sounds yìbǎi (the 一 tone change from lesson p-3), but the course writes yī bǎi.
Watch out
✗ 百 alone ✓ 一百 (100). Don't drop 零: 一百零五 is 105, but 一百五 is 150. Inside a bigger number 10 keeps its 一: ✗ 一百十 ✓ 一百一十 (110).
